Wow nostalgic memories

I can't believe this is actually available to buy! The last time played this relic was on the megadrive 30yrs ago. The gameplay is as frustrating as i remember! Obviously the graphics are old, but giving the age is no surprise. It's good overall, but probably not for the younger generation. Can't really complain for 87p lol

The game is still great but the remastering is... odd

The game is a classic. I loved it on the SNES and the 360 Port was pretty faithful. This remaster actually makes it harder to play, which considering the vintage of the original is just weird! The controls should have been a simple choice of analogue stick, direction buttons, or both. They chose a 4th option: Sometimes one, sometimes the other🤷♂️They did a good jobwith rescaling the graphics, hid some new collectibles in and added some graphics and sound options but the rewind function isn't well thought out. (infinite rewinds I get but why limit them? In tye places you'll really need it a state save point is more sensible.)

After playing 360 version this is terrible

Ive got this on xbox 360 and i assumed it would be the same version but jumping over gaps is impossible, only cost £1.30 but i'll regret it the rest of my pityful existence, the updated graphics is also just bluured pixels, should have just stuck with my 360 rgh

Brings back memories

One of my favourites from childhood. Great fun. Controls can be a little frustrating but that's how they were in the original. Can't wait for flashback 2. Would love for Fade To Black to be ported.

Legendary game

Played this as a kid on snes. Boy was it hard! Great to replay it. Love the graphics and music. Controls are hard and take getting used to. Nostalgic!

The controls are trash

This being a remake did they realy need to keep up as the jump button. Its a pain trying to run and jump. The button responce time sucks to like when i press up to jump i expect it to do it not have enough time for a cup of tea before it actually does the action. I could forgive it on the megadrive because it had limited buttons but for the xbox theres no excuse.

Broken waste of cash

I dont no why others rating this 5star' ran into game breaking glitch in manhattan all my items vanished. Reset mantattan got to cyborg quest in bar used key on hatch' hatch opened but cant drop down. You cant get past level 2 due to bugs **** this game and **** microsoft for selling broken ****. This game is a classic but dont bother with this version unplayable peace of ****. 16/3/22 ill try again see if its fixed got to manhattan escort quest. Game crashed reboot game load game crash ill try again game crashed i cant even load into the game now. Last year when i reached game breaking bug was manhattan bounty hunt 3rd quest. This time 2nd quest escort this should be removed it's an out right scam

Nothing exceptional

A nice little trip down memory lane, couldn't play all of it though. In my opinion it's not really worth the £15.99 for what it is. Luckily I only paid 68p for it, and Personally I would rather play the Remake. Also, if you purchase the Remake for the 360, you can play the Original Flashback via the main menu. To be Honest, it's not that much different to this version. Only this version it is in full screen. The version in the Remake Menu, you play it on an Arcade machine. So if you just want a brief trip down memory lane, the Menu Game on the Remake version might just be what you want. So to sum-up. If you just want a quick play of the Original version, you might as well just purchase the Remake. But if you want to get serious with the 1993 version then buy this copy. But I would wait until it's on Sale for at least 75% Off.

Freezes on level 2

I was loving it, until level 2 where you drop down a hatch that opens and it freezes every time. Very disappointed please fix or remove.

Amiga to Xbox

Had this on the Amiga back in the 90s. Now enjoying it just as much in 2021. Was a little upset that the music had been altered 😢. I loved the music on the Amiga. Not so much on the Xbox. Found no issues with the gameplay. I guess, not for those who like COD. Great addition of the rewind feature. Four stars. Only because of the music revamp/ruin.

Worst game i've ever played. Worst port too. They've managed to make this slower than the original. Controls are awful as is level design. Those stupid , rotoscoped animations make combat system the worst i've come across . Then you add the lag on top of that . What a joke.

Acceptable port let down by poor audio quality.

Reasonable port by 1992 standards but marred by a lack of effort in actual new features like aspect ratio support and the classic soundtrack being utterly ruined with sludgy bass drowning out the melodies completely. Bad ports of music were to be expected with the variety of audio chips in 16 bit consoles in 1992. Unacceptable almost 30 years later.

Earth glitch help here !!!

UPDATED : I wanted this game to be true to the original and be just as good it is but :The sounds are not true 8 bit in 8 bit mode , the auto jump has been messed with ,They couldnt be bothered to 16:9 (did it myself with tv settings) there is a save killing glitch at the point on earth when you are chased by fire (solved by deactivating directors cut). I played in classic mode the graphics dont make the game! I got no help from the production team when I reported the problem and microsoft refused refund when I thought I was unable to pass earth. Expensive for a game that you get no support for!!. So if you do get it DO NOT TICK DIRECTORS CUT. Was good to finish the original again kind of. Going to dig out my ps1 now and fade to black.

Disappointing

I have fond memories of playing this game on my Amiga in the early nineties, it's still a good game, but this version was disappointing, they could have made more effort with the graphics, simply adding the ability to blur them and not including a 16:9 aspect ratio is poor show. My advice is, buy the 360 version it's better !

Amiga 1992. 9 years old; this game fascinated me. Stuck on level 4 for years in the time before the worldwide interwebnets took hold, taking pencil and paper to the newsagents to copy passwords and trying to memorise guides by quick glaces at game mags before the shopkeeper kicked you out. Beautiful game from the vein harsh punishing games; when death meant so much more; an intense experience in classic mode.

Smooth, Retro, Sci Fi, Thinking Mans Action Game 😎

Amazing back then and amazing now. As a retro game collector I already have this on the SNES and on the Megadrive and I have still bought this. It still has that movie like cinematic feel to it and if you played the original from start to finish then this game is great for speedruns, if not then you will find a highly addictive thinking mans action game worthy of any real gamers time. Influenced heavily by movies like Total Recall (The Arnie one, not the rehash) its like sci fi movie with you as the star. Dont be put off by the fact its retro, give this game the time and effort it deserves and you will grow to love it.

YES WHEN I WAS PLAYING GAMES ON THE MEGA DRIVE LIKE A TRUE LEGEND OF GAMING I SOON CAME ACROSS THIS ROUND ABOUT THAT EARLY PLAYSTATION TIME AND I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY IT BACK IN THE DAY , IT WAS INCREDIBLE BUT THESE DAYS TOO YOUNG KIDS OF THE NEW LESS CREATIVE GAMING GENERATION THEY MIGHT NOT APPRECIATE ITS GENIUS BUT 20 YEARS AGO IT WAS A SIGHT TOO SEE !!!!
