Amazing!

One of my all time favourite games. Incredible art style and atmosphere, fantastic music, great writing superbly voiced by the cast and a truly replayable story. Like playing a great graphic novel. Very highly recommended to those who like substance and style in their games.

The games' art style is adorable, the characters have unique personalities. Different from one another. My only issues are the roaming & dialogue. Getting to one point to another is quite tedious. If there was a sprint mechanic, it wouldn't be too much of a problem. I love the voices and their personality. Problem being are picking a player choice and interrupting your friends. Having 10 minutes of dialogue at a cheakpoint but hardly any while roaming. Making roaming even more tedious. The story is amazing. Maybe having the ability to maybe prevent Michael from dying would of made it more emotional and heart warming (which it is) I love the sinister side of the game too. Not scary but it's really erie. And the soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous! I downloaded the whole thing. Props to SCNTFC!!! The mix between 'happy and horrifying' is a really cool design. Sadly not alot of games do that. Night School Studio have done an amazing job. Hope to see Alex and the gang again, in the future!

Seriously gripping and highly innovative, I had to play to the end and will be going back to it. So the game moves a bit slowly, it's an adventure game not a platformer although there's no puzzles as such. Maybe a bit short but it's an enjoyable ride.

WARNING! A very disturbing game...

Please be careful with this game. I was expecting a cute platform adventure (which it is!), but it becomes extremely dark and disturbing. For example: one of your friends suddenly commits suicide really violently right in front of you. It's all supernatural horror (think psychotic poltergeists) and the game completely freaked me out. I didn't sleep, then had terrible nightmares. (Sounds lame! but I'm an adult gamer who's been playing adult games for years, and I've never been this disturbed by a game before!!) It also has a lot of uncomfortable, very bright strobe lighting. I've never left a review before but I just had to warn people, as it's only rated 12 and the description doesn't give an accurate impression of it. If you like scary and disturbing horror games then you'll love it, but if not then it might really upset you. Please, please be careful. (PS Don't hate me for writing this!!)

A MUST PLAY

Brilliant characters with awesome voice acting thoroughly enjoyed this game but i have 1 thing that irritated me hence the 4 star rating and that was character movement speed other than that awesome game hope they make a sequel

Not what I thought it be

I was prepared to try another rubbish free game with poor graphics and zero gameplay, but to my shock I was finding myself enjoying the story and atmosphere with great retro music. I know many of us find the free games totally rubbish but not this one. This is the gem hidden in all that rubbish.

Tugboat of the heartstrings.

Oxenfree. What could be possibly said about this game? I started playing this with the mindset that this might be another sidescroller with little in the way of fun.... That was a mistake. From the instant you begin the journey of Alex and her friends, you are drawn so deep and fast into a truly dark and heartfelt life of fears and regrets. Emotionally this piece of art has changed the way i look at storytelling from just reading or seeing what is going on to the raw emotions that reverberate from start to end. This is one of the handfull of games that reminds me to appreciate everything and everyone in my life. Truly fantastic work. RIP MIKE.

Must-Have for Story Fans

Very enjoyable to play, story-based game with no action but lots of walking, good for a contemplative gamer but not for people who don't want to pay attention to speech/subtitles, replayable as you can make different decisions, has an eerie feel to it without it actually being scary, a pleasantly different experience :)

this game is just great. if you're looking for mystery, choices, a great story and complete madness and shock, this is the game you're looking for. it may start out to be one of those gobby teen films but s**t kicks off. like kicking the ball into another state kicks off. the only complaint is that my character doesn't run fast since you have to walk alot, lol
